THE POOL

Our pool supplied by K9Surf is 3.5 metres by 3 meters square and is 1.2 metres deep, the size of the pool means that even large dogs can swim comfortably.

One end of the pool is fitted with an adjustable anti-swim jet to create a flow of water, if needed, for the dogs to swim against. The swim jet can be set to different levels offering gentle resistance through to a vigorous workout for the very fit.

The water is heated to a minimum temperature of 28 degrees and is chemically treated and filtered to maintain the highest standard of hygiene to prevent infection.

Water hygiene is extremely important.  The pool water is tested and recorded throughout the day to ensure the chemical and pH balance are maintained at the correct levels.

Access to the pool is via a gentle ramp with a non-slip surface, there are two rest levels between ramps enabling dogs to rest on entry to the pool, whilst in the pool and when exiting the pool.

We use a variety of buoyancy aids, which are used for all dogs when they first come, even if they are swimming for fun.  They will continue to wear a buoyancy aid until such time the dog is strong enough and confident enough to swim without one. We also have harnesses for the more experience dog to swim in.

Dogs will be showered before their swim to maintain hygiene and cleanliness. After their swim, all dogs are showered and dried before going home. We use a drier to remove excess water from the dog’s coat, however, nervous dogs will be towel dried. We use only high quality dog shampoos and hand dry each dog - we do not use drying cages.
